A man from the Denver area died in a skydiving accident while parachuting in the area of Boulder, which is about 90 minutes away from Dillon.
According to reports, the man for some reason wound up landing in a parking lot. He was transported to a nearby hospital after the incident, where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities say that the accident will be investigated by federal regulatory authorities. Local police did not want to discuss the case in further detail.
However, it appears that this is the second fatal skydiving incident within a year in the area. Both accidents involved a Colorado outfit called Mile-Hi Skydiving in some way.
This is significant especially since serious accidents involving skydiving are extremely unlikely. Last year, there were 13 fatalities counted despite the fact that over 3 million people took the plunge from an aircraft for fun.
The company that sponsored this tragic skydive will likely have to answer questions in the upcoming investigation. The Federal Aviation Administration may be reviewing the facts of this case to determine if any rules were violated.
Whenever an accident happens at any Colorado recreational outfit, the owners and operators will want to evaluate their legal options and protections. This is especially true in the case of a fatality or a serious injury. An attorney who has experience with sports and recreation law may be able to assist them.
